Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar visited the Data Darbar shrine in Lahore on Thursday, where he offered Fateha and prayed for Pakistan’s security, prosperity, and the unity of the Muslim Ummah.

During the visit, he was received by officials of the Auqaf Department, including Secretary Auqaf Dr Ehsan Bhutta, who briefed him on ongoing development projects at the shrine. The briefing covered improvements in infrastructure, visitor management, security arrangements, cleanliness systems, and facilities provided to pilgrims.

Ishaq Dar paid respects at the shrine of Hazrat Data Ganj Bakhsh (RA), describing it as a major centre of peace, spirituality, tolerance, and Islamic values. He said that such spiritual sites play an important role in promoting harmony and unity within society.

He appreciated the ongoing efforts to upgrade facilities for visitors, stating that improvements in infrastructure, sanitation, security, and crowd management reflect the government’s commitment to enhancing public service delivery at major religious sites.

The Deputy Prime Minister also emphasized the importance of maintaining the sanctity and accessibility of shrines that attract large numbers of devotees from across the country and abroad. He noted that ensuring better arrangements for pilgrims is essential for preserving the spiritual and cultural significance of such places.

Officials briefed him that development work is being carried out in phases to facilitate increasing visitor numbers while maintaining order and safety. Special focus is being placed on managing crowds during peak hours and religious occasions.

The visit concluded with prayers for national stability and progress. Ishaq Dar reiterated that the government remains committed to promoting religious tourism, improving infrastructure at heritage sites, and ensuring that visitors can perform their rituals in a peaceful and well-managed environment.

The visit highlights the government’s continued engagement with religious institutions and efforts to improve facilities at major spiritual landmarks.
